Dry Needling

Dry needling uses fine, sterile needles to release trigger points — tight, overactive spots in muscle tissue that contribute to pain, restricted movement, and referred symptoms. At Back In Health, we also offer Electro Dry Needling (EDN), where a gentle electrical current is passed through the needles to amplify the effect. EDN requires advanced post-graduate certification and is particularly effective for chronic or stubborn conditions that haven’t responded to other treatment.

Dry Needling uses fine, pre-sterilized needles for the purpose of treating muscle pain.

Dry Needling can be used to deactivate trigger points, treat overactive motor points as well as strengthen tendons and ligaments. It also helps to increase blood flow to the area. This in turn helps treat chronic muscle tension and spasm, deliver oxygen and other nutrients to the affected and painful tissues, and remove harmful metabolic waste on a cellular level.

From a neuro-physiologic point of view, dry needling can also reset motor points, neural control and stimulate other important reflex mechanisms. It has a strong effect on pain control by releasing certain neurotransmitters from the brain.

All of our practitioners have trained extensively in Dry Needling and have completed advanced certifications. They also utilise electro-needling which enhances the effects of regular Myofascial Dry Needling, leading to better treatment outcomes for our patients.
