ISOMETRIC STRENGTH TESTING

Isometric muscle testing is a type of manual muscle testing that involves the patient contracting a muscle against a fixed resistance.

The amount of force that the patient can produce is measured to assess the strength of the muscle. Isometric muscle testing is a reliable and valid way to measure muscle strength. It is often used in clinical settings to assess muscle strength in people with injuries or muscle weakness.

Isometric muscle testing can also be used to monitor the progress of rehabilitation.

To perform isometric muscle testing, the examiner will first identify the muscle to be tested. The examiner will then apply a fixed resistance to the muscle while the patient contracts the muscle. The amount of force that the patient can produce is then measured.

The AxIT system by Strength by Numbers is a comprehensive system for assessing and monitoring muscle strength. It uses a combination of isometric muscle testing, force plate analysis, and data visualization to provide a detailed picture of an individual's strength profile.
